In the early days, the metal bands/belts would fatigue due to heat and flex cycles. Develop cracks and issues. This was in GM/Saturn/Nissan applications and gave this type a bad name.The CVT was also new in 2014 and that is another source or concern; Subaru provided a 10 year 100k mile warranty through at least 2018. The global oil burning problem with the FB engine was worst in 2011-2014 models, and maybe went into 2015-16 with manual transmission cars.
